Please provide a fix, as I hope this was going to be resolved a few days ago or have some advise.

Did you have to purge wine to get that to work, and then reinstall all the fixes with winetricks?

Confirming wine 1.8rc3 is working in Mint 17.2. literally < 5minute fix.
Fixed the launcher issues also.

I just used this mini tutorial, did a remove of wine first, it shows you how on the 4th line of script. just removed "wine" without the cersion, then installed as instructed.
